POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

CUSTODIAL TECHNICIAN

 

 

The Asheville Regional Airport Authority (ARAA) is seeking an individual for the position of Custodial Technician. This individual performs routine unskilled and manual work in cleaning of all airport facilities.  This position performs manual labor involving cleaning and janitorial services.  Work involves the use of a variety of cleaning tools and cleaning agents.  Work includes the performance of routine, established tasks such as cleaning restrooms, collecting garbage from garbage cans, restocking restroom supplies, and cleaning offices. 

 

Completion of high school or equivalent education required.  Experience working in the custodial field is preferred.

In 1979, the Asheville Regional Airport Authority Board, comprised of seven members, was established under
North Carolina Statutes by Buncombe County and the City of Asheville to maintain, operate, regulate and
improve the airport while enhancing the economy of the region. Since its creation, the Authority has been
successful in the development and operation of the airport and has matured into a fully self-sustaining
enterprise requiring no local financial assistance for its operations, maintenance or capital programs.
In the most recent 12 month period, AVL has seen over 311,000 enplaned passengers with an annualized
growth rate of over 8.5%. The airport is served by 6 airlines and records over 67,000 operations annually.
The Authority employs 55 staff in the areas of Finance and Administration, IT, Development, Marketing,
Operations, and Public Safety.

 


The Deputy Airport Director of Development & Operations provides management assistance to the Airport
Director in overseeing major departments/functions of the Airport Authority. This position is directly
responsible for the oversight of construction activities from design to project close out, including the
development, implementation, coordination and inspection of capital improvement projects and facility
improvements, as well as environmental compliance for airport facilities. He/she oversees daily airport
operations and administration in the areas of operations and public safety.

 


A successful candidate will have, as a minimum, a BS degree in Airport Management, Administration,
Engineering, Architecture, or closely related field. To be considered, you will have a minimum of five (5) years
of progressive management experience with two years of supervisory experience, and five years professional
experience in engineering design, engineering project inspection, or construction management. The ideal
candidate will have five or more years experience at a commercial service airport. A.A.E. accreditation is
preferred.
